On this project it was important to the client to retain the integrity of the original brickwork as it's a principle characteristic of the property, but it simply didn't fit with their design preferences and the other decor within the home. The base for the new finish was constructed outside of the existing brick without destroying or defacing it and a clean and sleek extra large format tile was installed that better suited the homeowners tastes. This was a challenging but fun project with the use of 24"x48" tiles and over 12-foot ceilings. Should the client, or any future owner of the property, wish to return to the original character of the fireplace it is possible to remove this upgrade without damage to the original finishes.
